CCStudio 2.20.18 Release Notes
BIOS
Buffer Memory Manager and Dynamic Device Driver have been provided as additional module for 5000/OMAP BIOS.

CSL
CSL for 5502 has been added in this release.

General Information:
DSP/BIOS
SDSsq27489: DSP/BIOS seed for OMAP1510 defaults CLKOUT to 12 MIPS.

Base CDB seed for OMAP1510 device sets the DSK CLKOUT to be 12 Mhz. DSP/BIOS does not program the DPLL to run application at the full speed of the processor. Application that change the frequency of clock to the DSP, must set the CDB CLKOUT value to the appropriate
value.
SDSsq27483: General information about DSP/BIOS support for C55x CPU revisions.

DSP/BIOS for CCS2.2 has workarounds for bugs till CPU_100 implemented. Additionally silicon revision prior to 1.2 are not supported. The product examples and tutorials are specifically compiled for PG2.0 silicon using the -v5510:2 codegen option.

The base seed c55xx.cdb defaults the CPUREVISION as 2.2. As a result of this, CDBUPDATE of c55x base seeds occuring from previous releases of CCS would change the CPUREVISION to 2.2. It is essential that CPUREVISION be changed to reflect the correct revision of silicon after the CDBUPDATE process. Additionally the CSL library chosen must also reflect the CPUREVISION of the processor.

SDSsq19397: Installing CCS can disrupt users who are developing with ComponentWorks.

Visual C++/Visual Basic Component Works Developers: After installing CCS, you must re-register the copy of CWUI.OCX in your Windows directory with regsvr32.exe.
Fixed Bug
DSP/BIOS
SDSsq29538: KNL_wFlag not declared as volatile leads to delay in semaphore services.

SDSsq26852: Application needs to perform SP alignment in Task switch function.

Known Bug
DSP/BIOS
SDSsq20317: CDB doesn't allow both code/data and IO in the same Memory range.

When trying to specify two memory segments with same address range but different addessing (code/data and I/O) spaces, a memoy overlap error is flagged.
SDSsq26453: Wrong help file for ScopeControls in Component Manager database.

Online help for the ScopeControls.ocx plugin cannot be launched from within Component manager.
SDSsq26574: CDB update prob: DHL0 object of DHL-Host Link incorrect.

After running the update process in the configuration tool, DHL objects will not be updated correctly. As a workaround the following can be done:
1. First Delete all DHL object that exists.
2. In you HST objects properties menu check "Make the channel available for DHL "
3. Then insert DHL objects again and select the correct HST object to link with.

Emulation
SDSsq29272 : When trying to view the C5502 CatID number in the memory window, the results come back as 0x0000.

View the CatID address (0x3807) in the watch window and the ID is shown correctly.
*0x3807@io,x

SDSsq29602 : The emulation driver cannot access some of the peripheral memory mapped I/O registers. Access to these registers will generate memory access error messages.

The c5502 GEL file does not add the I/O memory mapped registers to the memory map. Therefore, CCS will not try to access these registers. This effects to functionality of the DMA, McBSP and IDLE plugins.

CCStudio 2.21 Release Notes
This service pack includes a number of bug fixes and support for recently released devices. Please note that if you are using DSP/BIOS you may need to open your CDB file in the Gconf tool and then save it to complete the migration to the new version of DSP/BIOS included in this release.

Watch Window: A new version of the watch window containing many bug fixes and several usability enhancements is included in this release.

Chip Support:

OMAP1610: This update includes the necessary supporting libraries and softare tools specific to this device.
DM310: This update includes the new device configurations, updated emulation drivers, device peripheral plug-ins and the necessary Chip Support Library (CSL).
C5502:This update includes the necessary CSL, supporting libraries, examples, documentation, and software tools specific to this device.
C5509: This update includes the necessary CSL, supporting libraries, examples, documentation, and software tools specific to this device.
C5561: This update includes the necessary supporting libraries, examples, documentation, and software tools specific to this device.
OMAP1610: This update includes the necessary supporting libraries and softare tools specific to this device.
OMAP1610 Chip Support
This chip support package supports the OMAP1610 device. The following components have been updated or added in this patch:

ARM Code Generation Tools - Updated

ARM9 XDS510 and XDS560 drivers - Updated

ARM926 simulator - New

ARM TPI – Updated

OMAP1610 Application Note - New

OMAP System DMA Register plugin - Updated

OMAP Interrupt Control Register plugin - Updated

OMAP1610 ARM926 GEL file - New

OMAP1610 DSP GEL file - New

OMAP1610 import configuration files - New

Known issues
· Running help with no ARM help files present can cause the winhelp.exe process to be left running in the background after exiting CCS. This may prevent the cc_app.exe processes from terminating which could prevent the proper initialization of future CCS debug sessions.

· The component manager will show the version of the code generation tools at 2.24 when the actual version of 2.25.

· SDSsq31954: Profiling CI/O code on the ARM926 of the OMAP1610 device does not work. When a line of code or function that contains CI/O is being profiled, the user will receive a "Cannot run target" error message when the target attempts to execute/profile this code. This often will require the user to exit their Code Composer Studio session and power cycle the device.

See the OMAP1610 Application Note for additional known issues regarding using Code Composer Studio on the OMAP1610.

TMS470 Compiler: This patch contains version 2.25 of the TMS470 code generation tools. This version fixes the following bugs:

SDSsq29963 - There is a bug in the way indirect calls are handled in Thumb mode when -ml (long calls) option is turned on.
SDSsq28673 - Multiplication with very small FLOAT/DOUBLE values (ie. 10e-25 * 10e-35) does not work as expected.
SDSsq29398 - The compiler will optimize function prologs by attempting to push additional registers on the stack to save code-size. There was a bug in this optimization that occurs in interrupt routines only
Target Content: A number of bug fixes to DSP/BIOS and CSL are provided in this update.

Kernel Object Viewer: A more stable and usable Kernel Object View window has been developed and beta tested.

· overall performance improvement

· support for Queues, Stream I/Os and Device Drivers

· correlation between blocked tasks, mailboxes and semaphores

· ability to disable refresh of specific data (improve performance)

· name display of dynamic tasks

· flexible radix for displayed data

· column manipulation

· tree view to provide overall kernel view

· re-organization of data for usability

· SDK support
